Minutes taken by Marilou Mol, Region 8 Representative Silke introduced the NAN show committee: Eleanor Harvey & Jackie Arns-Rossi, co-chairs for NAN Tom Dean, NAN Registrar Committee members Carra McClelland, Jackie Hamilton, Danielle Miller, & Teresa Buzzell. Eleanor Harvey thanked all of the volunteers, including the judges, announcers, and ring stewards, and gave a special thank-you to Sharon Shaffer, the head ring steward. Silke introduced the regional representatives who were present: Tom Dean (R2), Carra McClelland (R4), Heather Jackson-Lain (R7), Marilou Mol (R8), and Pat Coulter (R9). She introduced the show membership secretaries, Gail Schuenemann and Jill Schuenemann Zorn. Danielle Miller, the individual membership coordinator, was then introduced, and the merit award coordinator, Jennie Kaech. Jennie gave a brief rundown on the recent merit award numbers... 271 awards between June 2009 and June 2010. She also added that the $1 register only (no certificate option) was working quite well and is roughly 40% of the award applications. Carmen Robertson, the NAMHSA treasurer, was also present and provided a brief financial report. Positive comments were made about the new and improved NAMHSA website (Thanks, webmaster Lynn Weber!). Then Valerie Parker, the Member Show of the Year chairman, gave a report. Nine shows were nominated and submissions received from 19 show attendees. Shows nominated were the Carolina Gold Classic, Cookeville Classic, Model Horses Anonymous III, Models in the Sunshine, the Northwest Expo, the Region 10 Regionals, Show for the Cure Live, Southern California Spring Live, and the Tri-State Live Mini Show. The selected award winners were: Second Runner-up: Carolina Gold Classic, hosted by Julia Harmon First Runner-up: Models in the Sunshine, hosted by Jackie Moore and Cindy Dilks The 2010 Member Show of the Year: Cookeville Classic, hosted by Kylee Demers. It was noted that Cookeville Classic received multiple submissions as Member Show of the Year (as did several shows), and that Kylee was a first-time showholder. Congratulations, Kylee! Marilou Mol made a public thank-you to Chris Wallbruch for her 13+ years of service to NAMHSA. Chris had held a number of positions with NAMHSA including most recently, recording secretary and Member Show of the Year chairman. Chris's long service and dedication to NAMHSA was much appreciated. Eleanor Harvey and Silke Brockmoeller also thanked Chris. Thanks were also given to Susan Hurst, the previous merit award coordinator. Susan proposed revisions which made the merit award program more easily accessed, and added two award levels during her tenure. Silke announced that NAMHSA was pursuing implementing a credit card merchant account to make things easier for the members. Silke also announced that NAN 2011 will be held on June 24, 25, and 26 in Tucson, Arizona, at the JW Marriott Star Pass Resort. Eleanor Harvey spoke again, thanking the NAN entrants and workers. She noted that the show concluded at 9:20 Tuesday evening, and at 8:30 on Wednesday evening. She said that a survey will be posted after NAN for suggestions and comments. The meeting was adjourned at 11:55 AM. Respectfully submitted, Marilou Mol Posted by Pauline Entin, NAMHSA PR | |
