REGIONAL REPORTS ****** Region 1- Erin Corbett NO REPORT ****** Region 2- Tom Dean NO REPORT ****** Region 3- Teresa Buzzell NO REPORT ****** Region 4- Carra McClelland September saw two shows in Region 4. In Omaha, NE we had Gateway to the West live and it was fantastic! We had that little church basement packed! WOWZA! In Brookings, SD we had the fall edition of Hitchin' Post Live. Competition was fierce up there! Upcoming events in the region are: October 17, 2009: River Valley Live, sponsored by MAHA in Northfield, MN. November 21, 2009: Crystal Creek Riders Double Judged All Halter and Collector Model Horse Show in Randolph, WI. Both shows should be really fun! ****** Region 5- Carmen Robertson Only one show this month. Red River Live on September 19 & 20 in Gainesville, TX hosted by Carmen Robertson. Lots of great competition and fun despite the showholder coming down with a nasty cold right before the show :(. Held at the scenic Lone Oak Ranch it was a perfect setting for a weekend of model horse fun. We even had smores after dinner out by the campfire on Saturday; what a great way to relax after a long day of showing. Up in October we have four shows! October 2nd is the double show Red Mud Fling hosted by Jacklyn Catena-Hart and Red Mud Sling hosted by Liz Lavallee in Oklahoma City, OK October 23rd is the Spookie Okie Party Show hosted by Lynn Yates in Oklahoma City, OK October 24th is the Sunflower Live Show Series #3 All Performance show hosted by Gay Mahlandt in Rose Hill, KS. Also for October we have the privilege of having the Breyer Lone Star Event on October 30 & 31 in Fort Worth, TX. I was lucky enough to be drawn to attend and can't wait! A dinner, two farm tours and a private viewing at the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Museum are among the activities planned. Congratulations to all who will be attending. I'll see you there! ****** Region 6- Jackie Moore Hello All! There were no shows in Region 6 in September, and, as I write this report, folks in Region 6 are preparing for the Southern Model Horse Convention - the south's longest running model horse show, hosted by Laura Behning in Covington, GA. But, I will save that show report for the October report! As for upcoming shows, November will see Peach State Live in Gainesville, GA as well as the first running of RockinRedneck Live, in Kissimmee, FL. December will be South Florida Live in Pompano Beach, FL. We are show-starved in Region 6 here lately, and are excited to be gearing up for some showing action! ****** Region 7- Heather Jackson-Lain Once again a quiet month here in region 7 with no shows or other cool ac tives to report. gearing up for 2 Big wonderful shows both Oct 10th All American Quarter Horse Congress and Cookeville Classic Live! I can't wait!!! More to report next month! ****** Region 8- Marilou Mol Hi, all! With September, warm weather finally arrived to Region 8! (Of course, I should speak for myself as I believe that Missouri was pretty warm through the summer!) There were three shows held in Region 8 in September. The first was on September 12, and was the Meows and Minis Show held in Itasca, Illinois. Chris Wallbruch is the showholder, and the show is a fundraiser for the Cat Guardians No-Kill Shelter. It is always a wonderful show, with spectacular raffle and live auction items and tough competition. I was a judge for the show again this year, and it is great to be able to do something for cats and kittens seeking that forever home. Representatives of the shelter were on hand to take donations of kitty litter and cat food, and over $2000 was raised to benefit the shelter. In addition, representatives of "Feral Fixers" were on hand to let us know about their mission--to catch feral cats, neuter them, and then return them to their territories. Thanks, Chris! The next show which was held in September was the GLC Workmanship and Collectability Stir Crazy Show in Huntley, Illinois. I was unable to attend, due to my being the athletic director of the junior high as well as the assistant principal (major cross-country invitational which we host). Darn... I'm certain the show went well, although I haven't heard any official reports. It was the first all-workmanship and collectability show that Great Lakes Congress has hosted. On September 27, the Michigan Upper Peninsula Equifest show was scheduled to be held in Escanaba, Michigan. The show is hosted by Adonica Badura, and in the past, it has been a very well-attended show. I am certain it was this year as well. Have a great month! ****** Region 9- Pat Coulter Region 9 September Report: There were two shows in September for Region 9 First was the Sea to Bay All Performance Show in Chincoteague, VA. on September 12th. By all reports it was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed. Second was in NW PA, and as per the show hostess: The NW PA Mini Birthday Bash was held on 9-26-2009. Over 200 stablemates showed at this show with a full performance division! The highest number of performance minis that I have seen for some time in dressage and the hunt seat classes. All entrants seemed to enjoy them selves! The show was low keyed and alot of fun! Photos were taken and each shower also brought something to share for the lunch! All classes were double judged and even though a few people couldn't make due to being sick the show still seemed to have fantastic raves :) thank you to all who attended! ****** Region 10- Valerie Parker There were two shows in Region 10 in September - Northeast Congress Live and Lilac City Live. I did not attend Northeast Congress, but it sounds like it was well-attended with good competition. I did attend Lilac City Live, and although entrants were light the classes were still very competitive and everyone had a great time. October looks to be a busy month in Region 10 with 4 shows - the North Shore Equine Miniaturest Expo, NEPC, Golden Oak Stables Open Show, and the last stop of the 2009 Thruway Series - Hudson Valley II. ****** Region 11- Sandra Gibson NO REPORT Posted by Pauline Entin, NAMHSA PR 11/4/2009 | |
