NAMHSA News for September 16-30, 2009 based on the minutes compiled by Bobbi Devine, Recording Secretary. September 16 -Bobbi Devine submitted the Minutes report for September 1-15. These were approved on September 22nd. September 17 -The poll proposing the formation of a NAN Steering Committee closed. The purpose of this committee will be focusing on cutting costs and doing an internal audit-- finding out where NAMHSA is spending, why, and how to make NAN run as streamlined as possible. The steering committee will be responsible for creating a budget for NAN, and also developing a manual on how to run NAN (contacts, pricing, when to order, looking for judges, where to get things printed, etc)-- this way it is run the same way every year regardless of who is the Chair. The Committee chair will report to the Board with its findings on the first of every month. This report will be included in the Board minutes. Formation of the committee was approved. VOTES TO APPROVE: -Liesl Dalpe, Vice President -Marilou Mol, Region 8 -Erin Corbett, Region 1 -Teresa Buzzell, Region 3 -Heather Jackson-Lain, Region 7 -Tom Dean, Region 2 -Carmen Robertson, Region 5 VOTES TO DISAPPROVE No Votes DID NOT VOTE -Valerie Parker, Region 10 -Jackie Moore, Region 6 -Pat Coulter, Region 9 -Carra McClelland, Region 4 -Sandra Gibson, Region 11 September 17 -Liesl Dalpe called for volunteers to fill the newly created NAN Steering Committee. Danielle Miller volunteered, and submitted a list of individuals with experience relevant to serving on the committee. September 22 -Lindsey Hall submitted proposed language to amend the Bylaws regarding co-ownership of models horses and eligibility to enter NAMHSA member shows. She asked for discussion to determine if the proposed change should go to the membership for a vote. September 24 -Gail and Jill posted the latest NAMHSA Approved Show listing. September 26 -Lindsey Hall motioned that the potential changes to the Bylaws regarding co-ownership of models and eligibility to enter NAMHSA member shows be sent to the membership for a vote. Jackie Moore seconded the motion. The poll was started on September 28. September 27 -Bobbi Devine reported that there were one and two candidates respectively for the Region 5 and Region 1 special elections for Regional Representative. September 28 -Pat Coulter reported that a Region 9 member had received a misprinted NAN card. The card is a pink performance card, but it has "Halter" printed on it, rather than "Performance". Gail Schuenemann responded that the misprint should not pose a problem. September 29 -Lindsey Hall forwarded to Bobbi Devine a Region 1 representative nominee.
