NAMHSA News for the period of May 16-31, 2010 based on the minutes compiled by Bobbi Devine, Recording Secretary. MAY 16 --The poll to narrow the choices of NAN 2011 bids from seven to two closed. Each voting member was eligible to vote for two bid locations. Two bids tied for number of votes, hence a top three was the result. San Jose, CA, Tucson, AZ, and Houston, TX were selected as finalists. MAY 21 --Lindsey Hall (President) reminded the Board that they needed to continue work on choosing the NAN 2011 location. Lindsey verified that all three top locations were still available for the last weekend in June, 2011. --The poll regarding whether or not NAMHSA should establish a merchant account for the purpose of accepting credit cards (outside of Paypal) closed. A NAMHSA merchant account was approved by an 8 to 1 vote. Voting to establish a merchant account: --Tracy Eilers (R1) --Sandra Gibson (R11) --Jackie Moore (R6) --Heather Jackson-Lain (R7) --Marilou Mol (R8) --Valerie Parker (R10) --Pat Coulter (R9) --Tom Dean (R2) Voting against a merchant account: --Teresa Buzzell (R3) No votes to abstain Voting members who did not vote: --Lori Batchelor (R5) --Liesl Dalpe (VP) MAY 22 --Danielle Miller (Individual Membership Secretary) posted that she had inventoried NAMHSA's NAN-related items that she had stored from last year. She suggested purchasing totes to store and ship the items, to avoid having to buy shipping supplies every time. She also suggested that perhaps permanent storage arrangements be made to avoid the passing of items from person to person each year. --Bobbi Devine (Recording Secretary) suggested that NAMHSA open a UPS account for the shipping of NAMHSA-related items. Items can be shipped and billed directly to that account number, avoiding up-front costs and reimbursements. MAY 23 --Discussion continued regarding the three top locations for NAN 2011. MAY 24 --Gail Schuenemann (Show Member Secretary) posted that Badger Press notified them of a new printing rate for NAN cards. The quote was uploaded to the files section. Gail said that Badger is still more competitive in pricing than local printers. --Lindsey Hall asked for a volunteer to monitor questions on the NAMHSA-Discussion list until Silke is settled into her position as VP. Pauline Entin (Public Relations) said she would try to monitor N-D more closely. MAY 25 --Carmen Robertson (Treasurer) asked if anything further was required from the Board regarding setting up a merchant account, given that the poll had closed and the Board had voted in favor of the account. --Liesl Dalpe (Vice President) posted that she was getting caught up with past postings and would resume activity on the list.
