NAN 2012 Update from Jim West, Registrar

Hi all,

This letter is intended for those that are considering showing at NAN 2012.

Well, that time is quickly approaching. Soon it will be time to register for NAN 2012.

I've been working on the show packet and have made some big changes, mainly concerning the removal of the "manual entry" forms/info as that is no longer an accepted method of entry.

The MGC is close to be finalized and approved. Once that is done I will be making final edits to the Show Packet for final review/approval from BOD. Once approved we will open registration.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ THE SHOW PACKET!!! This is especially true for those have attended NAN(s) in the past.

Now for some PSA bits...

PLEASE PLEASE sign your NAN cards. If cards are NOT signed they are NOT valid and will not be accepted. The name on the card must match the entrants name to be valid.

Also, if you have acquired a model that came with valid NAN card(s) and you desire to show that model at NAN 2012 you leave the previous owner's name and add your name to the card (it has to be cross-checked by the owner's name on the results when the card is verified). Also, if you desire to show that model you CAN NOT RENAME that model. It MUST be registered under the name for which it acquired the NAN card. If you must rename your newly acquired model and want to show it at NAN you MUST re-qualify it at a NAN qualifying member show. So, if you want to rename a model you acquired that came with NAN cards...throw those cards away.

Yes, I do verify NAN cards against show results. If there is a discrepancy, that entry will be disqualified. This is why it is VERY important that you verify the show results with the show holder upon completion of a member show. Once the show results are sent to NAMHSA, they are record and thus cannot be changed. So if you fail to verify and incorrect information, name of model for instance, does not match the NAN card, that entry will be disqualified.

Online Entry: When you start entering your models, the responsibility is UPON YOU to ensure that you have entered all the data correctly. Note that some of the fields (the pull-downs) have a "default" value. Don't just let that slide, ensure that the correct value for your model is selected. I can't begin to tell you the number of Stones that ended up as Breyers since that selection was overlooked upon entry. I cannot tell by breed and color if the model is a Stone or Breyer.

I was able to fix of a lot of these entries during NAN 2011 as the number of entrants was just over a 100 after the showers caught their mistakes. Since KY NAN is considerably larger than a non-KY NAN this most likely will not be possible.

Also, if you enter your Shire into a Mustang class, please don't expect me to catch it. I and the chair(s) do our best reviewing the class lists but there is a chance we may miss something.

Bottom line: MOST of the entry responsibility is on YOUR end. If/when you catch a mistake PLEASE PLEASE contact me as soon as you can so that I can fix it for you. Please don't wait until show day to bring it to me as it may be too late. And you will not receive a refund for these mistakes if you have a model entered in an incorrect class. At that point NAMHSA kindly thanks you for your generous monetary donation. :-)

Once you've completed your NAN 2012 entry, please try to send me your entry packet (Final entry list, NAN cards, forms, etc) as soon as you can.

When I receive your entry packet I will send you an initial email indicating that I have physically received your packet. Once I'm able to verify your entry (check validity of NAN cards, etc) I will send you a second email indicating either a valid entry or provide you the issues I find.

Also, if you have ANY questions, please don't hesitate to email me. I will endeavor to do my best to help.

That's it... for now.

Clear skies,
Jim
